These stunning colours for 2019 will brighten any home

5/8/2019

Alongside the popularity of Scandi inspired interiors, pared-down décor and subtle neutral hues were the go-to style of previous years. But there’s a new trend emerging.

In 2019 interiors are becoming more bold, with rich, saturated hues, bright pastels and warm earth tones. Read on for the key shades of Spring and Summer 2019, and get ready to transform your home with the latest exciting colours:Smoky blueBlue is being touted as the new grey for 2019, and sophisticated smoky blue shades are especially popular. More upbeat than navy and more mellow than indigo, smoky blues are inspired by shades of washed denim and have grey undertones.

That means they’re easy on the eye and promote a refreshing but relaxed atmosphere.

For a serene living area, smoky blues work well as an accent to complement a pastel blue backdrop. Or team with white to create a crisp, nautical inspired space. Smoky blues are perfect for a peaceful bedroom, and the modern colour is an ideal choice for kitchen cabinets and islands.

Spiced Honey

Warm, earthy tones are popular at the moment, alongside the trend for natural elements and unvarnished wood. Spiced Honey is the Colour of the Year from Dulux, and it’s a great way to embrace the trend in your home. Inviting and versatile, Dulux chose this colour to showcase their theme for 2019 of ‘‘Let in the Light’’, with a focus on optimism and embracing new ideas.

This hue can evoke a soothing atmosphere or an energising one, depending on the colours it’s teamed with. For a relaxed living room with a contemporary edge, pair with cream or white. Create a peaceful bedroom with Spiced Honey and soft pastel accents. And if you want a vibrant, energising look, contrast Spiced Honey with deep colours like navy or burgundy.

Teal

We’re loving the current trend for deep jewel tones, and our favourite is Graham and Brown’s Wallpaper of the year: Tori. It’s a rich, regal teal which features a delicate oriental inspired pattern and a luxurious sheen. Wallpaper doesn’t get more glamorous than this – it’s the perfect choice for evoking a luxe and sophisticated ambience.

Teal instantly adds a sense of opulence to your space. For an uplifting living area, use teal as a cool accent against a neutral backdrop like cream or white. But for real impact teal works wonders with other jewel tones like burgundy and aubergine. While this look isn’t for the shy, it will definitely give your home the wow factor! We think this regal hue looks great with velvets and metallics, too.

Living coral

Light-hearted and spirited, Pantone’s colour of the year is another warm and optimistic colour for 2019. Pantone says the colour ‘’embodies our desire for playful expression.’’ And this energising shade is ideal for promoting a sociable environment like a bright dining area.

Coral is a strong colour, so it’s usually best used as an accent. The hue works well to add a contemporary edge to neutral tones, such as a vibrant accent in a creamy living room. Or for real sophistication and impact, team with navy to create a striking contrast. Living coral looks gorgeous with warm metallics, too. And for retro appeal with a modern twist, find coral in Art Deco inspired patterns like scallops and seashells.

Emerald

Green is the colour for 2019, alongside the trend for bringing the magic of the forest indoors with natural textures and chocolate browns. Rich and vibrant, emerald is the perfect backdrop for dark botanical motifs, and this lush colour evokes a fresh and energising mood in your home.

If you’re new to painting your walls a bold colour, emerald green is a great choice because it’s so easy on the eye and won’t overpower the room. Emerald walls work beautifully with pastel pinks and corals, but for real impact, pair with deep forest greens and botanical motifs.

For a more subtle way to bring the outdoors in, use emerald as an accent to complement pale earthy tones and natural finishes like wood and stone. Emerald can be glamorous, too: pair with aubergine or burgundy and shimmering metallic accents.

Pale pink

Not a fan of bold hues and jewel tones? Pastels are making a comeback, and they’re a great way to create a softer and lighter interior. Pastels work in place of neutral tones for a romantic, feminine feel, and they really lift the mood of a room. We’re loving frosted pink, a clean bright shade that works flawlessly with a wide range of colours.

For a retro inspired colour scheme that’s also relaxed and inviting, team with warm tones like terracotta or chocolate. But if you’re looking for more drama, use pale pink as a backdrop for vibrant accents like zesty lemon or lush green.
