Botanical Décor

5/8/2019

Evoking a relaxed and fresh atmosphere, botanical décor has become popular in recent months and the trend’s set to stay for 2019.

While we loved the bright palm prints and tropical motifs of last summer, this year’s botanical theme is tipped to be more sophisticated. Trending are calm, cool teals and gorgeous deep colours like emerald and burgundy. Vivid forest green prints are paired with earthy tones like chocolate, tan and terracotta.
The rise of the botanical theme goes hand-in-hand with a growing trend for sustainable décor. Because we’re focussing more on protecting our environment and reducing disposable plastics, there’s more demand for ethically sourced wooden furniture that will stand the test of time.

Emerald walls

Emerald green walls are a great way to embrace the botanical theme in your home. Symbolising health and harmony, green has the ability to relax and restore, and it’s very easy on the eye. Contrast with accents of rose red or burgundy, or pair with soft pink and warm olive.

Bold prints

For soft furnishings and wall art, think vibrant leafy prints or fresh florals. Add a touch of luxury with plush, shimmering velvets.

Rustic furniture

Quality wooden furniture with a rustic, unfinished look enhances the natural feel of botanical decor, and its warm tones will complement lush green accents.

Bring the outdoors in

Choose accessories in natural materials like ceramics and stone. To help bring the outdoors in, increase the level of natural light with mirrors opposite a sunny window. And don’t forget the real thing! Indoor plants add life to your home and improve air quality, too.

Dark florals

Sumptuous ‘Dark floral’ wallpaper is very popular right now. An easy way to create glamour and drama in any room, contrast with pale furnishings or sleek metallics.

Japanese serenity

For a more subtle and serene look, take inspiration from Japanese décor. Calming neutrals and earth tones are paired with soft green accents like sage, or bright notes of minty teal. Dress pine and bamboo furniture with simple accessories.
